• Sept 3-15 – Pajama Men Improv Show
Amazing US duo the Pajama Men (above) perform without pyjamas for once, and without a script, at Soho Theatre.
• Tuesday 4 onwards – Austentaious: An Improvised Novel
Another ace improv show, this time with a Jane Austen theme, returns for an autumn residency in Fitzrovia.
• Thursday 6 – Tooting Rhubarb
One of London's best provincial comedy clubs is back with another cracking line-up, including form horse Elis James and rising star Liam Williams.
• Saturday 8 – Comedy Cabaret at the King's Head
Crouch End's long-running club has a particularly good line-up, including Henry Paker and Andy Parsons.
• Sunday 9– Jon Richardson: The Greatest Hits So Far
Star of 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Stand Up For The Week performs the best bits from his previous four shows.
• Sep 10-22 – Mark Thomas: Bravo, Figaro
An excellent, poignant new show from Mark Thomas about being the son of a brutal father, which culminates in an opera taking place in a Bournemouth living room.
• Tuesday 11 – Cutting Edge
A particularly strong line-up at the Comedy Store's long-running topical show, with Ian Stone, Alistair Barrie and Hal Cruttenden among others.
• Monday 10 – Channel 4's Comedy Showcase
Another Comedy Store special, this one only a tenner, with a bumper bill including Josh Widdicombe, Tom Rosenthal, Suzi Ruffell and David Trent.
• Sep 14-24 – Idiots of Ants: Model Citizens
Master sketchers Idiots Of Ants continue to tour their excellent 2011 show. Also check out wonderful stand-up Hal Cruttenden's new show at the Soho this month.
• Sunday 16 – Comedy at the Rosendale
The new-ish club in Dulwich has another excellent bill.
• Sep 16-19 – Simon Amstell: Numb
Amstell performs his latest solo show in an intimate venue, the Invisible Dot, as he warms up for a TV recording. Also at the Invisible Dot is David O'Doherty's wonderful "Antarctic explorer" show from September 24-29.
• Sunday 16 – 99 Club Leicester Square
With James Acaster and Elis James among others. Also check out 99 Club's new Covent Garden club on Saturday 15th.
• Monday 17 – Jim Jefferies, Fully Functional
No-holds-barred Aussie stand-up Jefferies performs his critically acclaimed new show.
• Fri/Sat 19/20 – The Establishment
Peter Cook's "The Establishment" is reborn at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, with Keith Allen (pictured) hosting, Victor Lewis-Smith, "hardcore comedy and cabaret acts" and a jazz band playing Dudley Moore compositions.
• Friday 21 – Highlight Camden
Michael Fabbri, The Noise Next Door and Rob Carter should make for an excellent night.
• Saturday 22 – John Shuttleworth and Friends
Vic Reeves is the stand-out comedy act at this musical and comedy fundraiser for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, hosted by John Shuttleworth. Other top-notch charity fundraisers at the Bloomsbury Theatre include Laugh Till It Hurts on Sep 26 and Stand Up For Animals on Sep 12.
• Friday 28 – Laugh For Leukaemia
King's Place hosts a charity fundraiser that includes Daniel Kitson MC, Adam Riches, Jonny Sweet, Nick Mohammed and more.
• Friday 28 – Kevin Bridges, The Story Continues
Classy observational comic Kevin Bridges performs his new one.
• Saturday 29 – Dave Gorman's Screen Guild
Strictly speaking a work-in-progress night for Gorman, but it's still well worth a look, not least because he has excellent taste in guests and venue.
• Saturday 29 – Amused Moose Soho
A cracking bill for a Saturday night.
