This month sees the return of Robin Ince's Book Club, a rare Emo Phillips appearance, Daniel Kitson warm-up shows and strong offerings from Happy Mondays and East Meets Jest comedy clubs.
























Monday, July 5: Two highly talented young comics Jonny Sweet and John Luke Roberts do Edinburgh previews in Camden.

Thursday, July 8: The ridiculously charming Tom Allen does a full-length set at Etcetera Theatre.

• Sketch trio the Penny Dreadfuls have a mini-residency at Greenwich Theatre.

Saturday, July 10: Andrew Maxwell's raucous late-night show Fullmooner's comes to the Udderbelly on the south bank.

Throughout July: Daniel Kitson has Edinburgh previews aplenty this month, in Camden, Forest Hill and Battersea.

• Dave Gorman winds up his acclaimed national tour with a DVD recording at Bloomsbury Theatre.

From July 20: The grandiose Battersea Arts Centre is back with another N20 comedy festival of top comics, including Marcel Lucont, Colin Hoult, Robin Ince and Laura Solon.

Wednesday, July 21: The truly unique Emo Phillips visits the UK with a gig as part of the Ealing Comedy Festival.

Saturday, July 24: Holly Walsh and Henry Paker are among the performers at the King's Head in Crouch End.
