Booking alert! Daniel Kitson Edinburgh previews
Daniel Kitson has announced 20 or so previews of his 2010 Edinburgh show It's Always Right Now, Until It's Later. As with his 66a Church Road show, it's theatrical monologue not stand-up comedy. And here is the full list of wheres and whens.
There are some very early-in-development ones at the magnificent Invisible Dot in Camden market, which will most likely involve a fair bit of reading off paper and perhaps some workshopping with the audience. Lovely.
You can see the show a little closer to the finished product by getting your ass down to the weekend matinees at the highly pro-Kitson the Hob in Forest Hill and late shows at the grand old dame of fringe theatre, Battersea Arts Theatre.
The Hob shows are only available by emailing the very-nice-indeed Emma at the venue, while the BAC shows don't go on sale till Monday, July 5.
Without wanting to get all gushing, Kitson previews are a joy. Purely because the loose vibe gives him license to just chat, all relaxed and stuff, and interact with the audience, which he does better than probably any other comic. Of course, there's business to be done – there's a show to write for god's sake, so it all has an important and specific end, which will be something to ruddy well look forward to in itself. In other words, unscripted Kitson ≥ scripted Kitson, in LiF's opinion.
The show is about "everything and nothing", which is hard to elaborate on until you've seen it, but fingers crossed it's a ace as ever.
The finished product can be seen at the Traverse Theatre between August 11-29. Get your tickets here.
