10 Questions: Yianni Agisilaou
A splendid comic who has supported Mark Watson, Yianni Agisilaou tells all about his second Edinburgh solo show.
What is your show, MP3Some, about?
It's stand-up storytelling, a comedy of errors about two relationships, one that was a mistake, and the other that I ruined by my own mistake. I've also choreographed the stories to music and sound effects.
Why did you decide to do a show about this?
Sometimes, emotional baggage is like too much booze; better out than in.
If your show was a dog, what kind of dog would it be?
Brian from Family Guy.
Complete this sentence: "If you like (blank) then you'll like my show"
(Poor English alert.) "If you, like, have ever been in a romantic relationship which like, went wrong, then you'll like my show."
Is the Edinburgh Comedy Award important to you?
Yes. The doors it can open for you are immense so I'd be lying if I did that comics purist thing of saying it didn't. I'd like as many people as possible to enjoy my work and winning the award would help me achieve that.
What is the most frightening thing about the Edinburgh Festival?
Nothing. It's the best arts festival in the world.
Which other acts would you recommend this year?
Celia Pacquola, Sarah Bennetto, Felicity Ward, The Hotel.
Can you recommend where to get the best pie/pint in Edinburgh?
I've always liked Pie Maker, and the Tron has great cheap drinks.
Sum up the festival in one word
Colossal.
