What's in your Edinburgh luggage - Suitcase Royale?

Wednesday, August 25 2010

Their last venture to Edinburgh in 2008 was a gloriously chaotic, debris-strewn, beautifully told Chronicles of a Sleepless Moon. This year they are back with The Ballad of Backbone Joe - a 'whisky-soaked tale of murder and deceit'. But what did Suitcase Royale pack in their, erm, suitcase?

Suitcase Royale

"We have three suitcases that we are bringing to Edinburgh. One suitcase turns into a double bass. One suitcase turns into a bass drum and one suitcase converts into a three-bedroom flat that we charge three times the amount of normal monthly rent for.

"The contents of these three suitcases are:
• 200 copies of The Suitcase Royale debut album
• 1 sheep skull
• 3 pairs of boxing mitts
• 1 red dress
• A whole lot of whiskey
• Glen’s DVD copy of “Samba” (Latin-American daily workout routine)
• A heap of unpaid parking fines
• A lot of UK/Aus power converters
• 15 electrical leads
• Actual human hand
• 15 copies of The Suitcase Royale television pilot
• 1 remix of 50 Cent: Get Rich or Die Tryin'
• 1 original copy of 50 Cent: Get Rich or Die Tryin'
• Ham"

The Suitcase Royale's The Ballad of Backbone Joe is on at 2.35pm at the Pleasance Courtyard, click here for booking.
